Organic Agriculture Project in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria — building capacity for sustainable, agrochemical-free farming since 2004.
The Organic Agriculture Project in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria is a university-based project with an outreach to Nigeria and the rest of sub-Saharan Africa. Established as a non-profit project in June 2004, OAPTIN's concept of organic agriculture is the production of food and fibre without the use of agrochemicals harmful to human health or the environment — including environmentally friendly technologies that help upgrade marginal production resources for increased food production.
The OAPTIN logo consists of a garden fork (for turning manure), a seedling (representing the plant/crop component of the mandate), a cockerel (representing the livestock component), a green halo (for a safe environment), and a red ribbon highlighting the project mission.

“Good food, safe food, plenty to eat all the time.”
Mission: Sustainable food security.
